P2P Manager, Aceh Health Service, Dr. Iman Murahman, sp. KKLP, MKM

(Banda Aceh, 6/12) — Since the beginning of December 5, as many as 34,000 children in 6 districts/cities of Aceh have undergone the National Polio Immunization Week.

This number will certainly continue to increase together with the implementation of the second phase of the immunization week which will run until 11 December.

As many as 34,000 children have been immunized against polio, which is the total number of children in 6 urban districts who are currently immunized against polio.

The six regencies/cities referred to are Aceh Besar, Banda Aceh City, Sabang City, Pidie Jaya, Bireuen and North Aceh respectively.

According to the head of disease prevention, Aceh Health Service, Dr. Iman Murahman, Sp.KKLP, MKM, said this number represents 10 percent of the total goal of 390,000 children receiving polio immunization in the 6 districts and cities.

This result is considered positive and is certain to continue to increase in line with the end of the implementation of the second phase of the National Polio Immunization Subweek on December 11th.

According to the faith of the 34,000 children, this does not include children from the Pidie district who have previously been immunized against polio.

Up to now the number of children who have undergone polio immunization in Pidie Regency has reached 79% or reached 72,000 children.

“Alhamdulillah, for the targets in 6 urban districts, outside of Pidie, are 390,000 children, since it started after the declaration of the second phase on Dec. 5 yesterday. The first day the achievement reached 10%. Hopefully it can hit 10 percent every day, so within the next 9 days we hope to hit the minimum target of 95 percent of that hopefully,” hoped Dr. Wedding ring.

Iman hopes that people will also involve their children to be immunized in the polio immunization program that is currently being carried out by the government.

This is because Aceh province must meet the goal of reaching 95% of the total target age of children 0-12 years who are recipients of polio immunization, if this national polio week program is to be said to immunization is successful in Aceh.
