Osnabrück (dpa / lni) – A 13-year-old behind the wheel of a car caused a serious car accident in Osnabrück with four injuries. A 55-year-old man gave the boy driving lessons in a supermarket parking lot on Sunday afternoon, a police spokesman said on Monday. Immediately after starting the engine, the young driver lost control of the car. He drove across a meadow, broke through a fence, and crashed at a railway underpass onto the road about three and a half meters below. There the car drove on until it hit the concrete wall of the bridge.
The driver, the husband and two children, aged 12 and 13, who were in the car, were taken to hospitals with severe injuries. According to the police, the man is a relative of the children. He currently does not have a driver’s license. He now faces several criminal charges.
