In the early morning hours of July 31, they abandoned a newborn behind the Comprehensive Social Care Post (PASI) in Coro, Falcón state. Authorities found her in a wooded area inside a plastic bag.

It was learned that the person responsible for the act, her mother, identified as Glenys Moreno Perozo, currently works as a lawyer, kept a preventive quarantine in the city of Coro when she gave birth in the Miranda municipality of Falcón state, El Nacional reported.

When performing the act, another person who was at the site saw Perozo and gave notice to some militiamen and police officials. According to reports, authorities found the bag and inside it the baby, who was no more than five hours old.

The regional blog @ VersionMorón reported that it was 7:00 am when they managed to rescue the baby still alive. They transferred her to the Falcón Police Polyclinic, the only health center near the scene. She was found to be in stable health.

The woman fled after abandoning the baby

Shortly after abandoning the baby, Perozo fled the scene. However, a mixed commission of the Bolivarian National Police and the Falcón Police arrested her. She was transferred to the Alfredo Van Grieken Hospital in Coro and it was confirmed that she had given birth just a few hours ago and the corresponding cure was carried out.

Perozo has a history of qualified theft, a crime she committed as a lawyer. File IP11-P-2013-012678 records that the lawyer stole two checks that she cashed at a bank behind the account holder’s back. She was detained in October 2013, and was released on a presentation basis every eight days.
