A careless mistake on the part of the traveler seems to be the cause of this fatal accident early this morning in the small station of Gauriaguet.
The 20-year-old did not survive his injuries. He was hit by a train at Gauriaguet station in northern Gironde. It was around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26. The victim would not have seen a train launched at full speed, from the TER Bordeaux / Saint-Marien line, as it crossed on the tracks. “A careless mistake” probably comments the mayor of the commune Alain Montangon.
“If you want to go to Bordeaux, you have to cross the tracks. For all rural stations it’s like that. There are no footbridges or underground passages. There are only in large stations like Libourne or Bordeaux.” confirms the mayor of Gauriaguet.
It is therefore necessary to be extra vigilant in these small stations.
An investigation is opened by the gendarmerie of Saint-André de Cubzac according to the SNCF to establish the circumstances.
The young victim lived in the neighboring town of Marsas.
