A wolf has been spotted again in Schluchsee

The animal was taken in the same photo trap as on April 15th

Once again, a wolf was detected on the municipality of Schluchsee in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. The Forest Research and Research Institute (FVA) Freiburg announced this on Wednesday (April 29, 2020) to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment. The picture was therefore already taken on April 20 – five days after a wolf was first captured in a picture in the community. The animal stumbled into the same photo trap as when it was first detected.

Farm owners have been alerted and can borrow fences

The Ministry of the Environment has informed all owners of farm animals in Schluchsee about the sighting and is asking for increased vigilance. It can be assumed that the animal is the same as it was in mid-April, according to the FVA experts. It is unclear whether the wolf is still traveling in the region or has already moved on.

Whoever watches a wolf should contact the FVA in Freiburg by email at [email protected] or by phone at 0761 / 4018-274. Farm owners can borrow a set for a temporary emergency wolf fence from the institution. In the past few months there have been several isolated records of wolves in the southern Black Forest.
