It was residents who alerted the police. More than a hundred young people partied at the Pont des 3 Continents in Rezé during the night of December 12th to 13th. “Their number is difficult to estimate because it was pitch black. One thing is certain, they were very numerous”, tells a policeman.
A delicate operation
“The absence of light and the proximity to the Loire made the intervention too dangerous. We did not want to take the risk that there would be a movement of panic and that a young person fell into the river”, explains the same policeman. The risk was obviously real since as soon as the police arrived some fled precipitously. Most of the party-goers stayed all night but this Sunday morning there is no one left.
An ongoing investigation
Investigators went on site this Sunday morning to understand how young people were able to settle there and determine if the location was sufficiently secure. They are also in contact with the town hall of Rezé on this subject.
