A warning study reveals that pharmacies in Mexico sell drugs containing fentanyl.

And study of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, for its acronym in English) reveals that counterfeit drugs sold in northern Mexico, in states near the border, are being mixed with drugs such as: fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine.

It is the first study to provide scientific evidence on these drugs that often masquerade as controlled substances such as oxycodone, Percocet and Adderall.

These medicines are over-the-counter in Mexico, since they do not require a prescription, tourists can easily obtain them. Consequently, they pose a risk to society in relation to overdose deaths from these deadly drugs.

Travelers at the border assure that they resort to buying medicines in Mexico because they are economically accessible. A dynamic that worries experts because of the many lives that can be lost.

Furthermore, the UCLA study revealed that these pills mixed with these drugs were sold in 11 pharmacies and that it is difficult to tell them apart since the authentic version and the counterfeit version look identical.
