UEFA: The European Football Association (UEFA) has responded in a statement that English, Italian and Spanish clubs are planning to launch a closed Super League. UEFA’s executive committee will decide on Monday on the transformation of the Champions League, which could take effect from 2024, and many say, including supporters, to serve the interests of big clubs and put national championships in a difficult position. Yet several major clubs have not given up on the plan for the new league and are determined to launch it in 2022, which the Continental Alliance is making every effort to prevent.
The Super League would be a series independent of UEFA with 20 teams that would actually fight each other in a separate league series. According to the news, the biggest English (Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea), Italian (Juventus, AC Milan, Internazionale) and Spanish star clubs (Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid) have committed to the plan. However, German and French teams did not join the initiative, including BL’s two most recent finalists, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
UEFA, which is supported by national federations (among others the Italian, Spanish and English federations) in the fight against the Super League, indicated on Sunday that the teams concerned could expect not to take part in any international or national series, i.e. nor in the league of their home country, and in addition, club players may be banned from national team appearances.

The European federation called the idea of the Super League a “cynical plan” and selfishly accuses the initiating clubs, whose leaders care only for their own benefit, even in the current plight of an epidemic when solidarity is needed.
The Champions League can be renewed from 2024. UEFA plans to have 36 guards in the continent’s most prestigious club series instead of the current 32, and the four-team groups would be replaced by a large table, allowing each participant to play ten matches with different opponents instead of the current six. The top eight would automatically advance to the eighth final, 9-24. and there would be a playoff for the top 16. (MTI)
