Tornado on Pantelleria Island

Local authorities on the southern island of Pantelleria are just beginning to assess the damage caused by the disaster.
In Italy, at least two people were killed and nine others were injured in a tornado that struck the southern island of Pantelleria. This is reported by the newspaper the Republic citing Mayor Vincenzo Campo on Friday 10 September.
“It was certainly a tornado that affected homes as well as various vehicles. We are still assessing what happened,” he said.
It is also reported that at least 10 cars were damaged. Some of them were overturned.
Among the victims, four are in serious condition.

Previously a tornado swept through the Czech Republic, which affected seven localities. Then six people died and another 150 were injured. 70 houses were completely destroyed and another 1200 were damaged.
