  • Autoklub ČR tested not only seasonal tires but also year-round tires in winter conditions

  • He tested the size 205/55 R16, which is especially suitable for cars of the lower middle class

  • A detailed test took place in the Alps. Bridgestone Blizzak tires won, but others also performed well

Motorists will have to go to next week winter tires in case the weather will require it. That is why many European car clubs are testing rubber. He also brought his results Autoklub ČR, which tested the popular size 205/55 R16 suitable for lower middle class cars such as Hyundai i30 or Škoda Octavia. At the request of drivers, he tested not only tires with a winter tread pattern, but also all-season tires.

“The aim of testing the Autoklub ČR is to inform drivers about the properties of the tested products. From the driving public, we often encounter questions about whether it is appropriate to wear all-season tires or it is better to change shoes before the season. That is why before this winter we decided for a big test, in which we examine the properties of both types and can be compared with each other, “said Libor Budina, manager of Road Safety Autoklub ČR.

The same size as Autoklub ČR tested some time ago German ADAC. However, he only tested winter coats, he did not invite him to year-round tests. The results of the German test can be found here:

Autoklub ČR inspected tires in the mountain valley of the Swiss town of Ulrichen. He tested tires in a total of 16 disciplines. He examined them on dry, wet and snowy roads. He controlled their aquaplaning behavior, both longitudinally and transversely. Noise and rolling resistance were measured on a dry track, while the degree of wheel slip was tested on a snow-covered area. On a circular track with a wet surface, time was again measured in both directions.

On a special circuit, the licensed test drivers tested the maneuverability of the car – the time on the bike was assessed. However, the subjective evaluation of the car’s response to driving and its stability was also important. The test was performed as blinded. The drivers didn’t know what tires they were wearing.

“The test results will help people choose the tire that best suits their needs. They should monitor the parameters that are key to them. Other preferences will be given to a driver who drives mostly in a city where there is rather wet or dry frost during the winter, while others will have one who drives at higher altitudes, where there is more snow, “added Libor Budina.
