A taxi driver in Santiago injured in a robbery with a knife
At approximately 6:30 am on Tuesday, in the vicinity of the Hospital Clínico de Santiago, a couple got into Sonia’s taxi.
The man was leaning on a crutch. They asked her to take them to the “A Estrada road” and the taxi driver went to the place.
When they reached A Ramallosa, they asked him to turn off along a track, and when they reached an area where there were no houses, the man did not hesitate to take out a knife, which he put on the taxi driver’s neck.
It was a robbery, the fifth suffered by taxi drivers from Compostela in the last two weeks, says the president of Radiotaxi, Jesús García.
After several laps on the tracks, the area, threatened with the knife, the woman managed to return to the main road where, as soon as she could, she jumped from the car while it was moving, but not before suffering a neck injury due to the pressure exerted with the razor.
Sonia escaped and was rescued by a driver who took her to a nearby bar.
The taxi driver was transferred to the Clinical Hospital, where she received health care, although she has already received a medical discharge.
As El Correo Gallego learned, the robbers were arrested by the police when they tried to steal another vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel establishment in the area.
The taxi in which the perpetrators escaped, was also found in the vicinity.
