A state of emergency is beginning to apply in the Czech Republic. New restrictions are also being introduced – ČT24 – Czech Television

Restrictions will also affect restaurants, where a maximum of six people can sit at one table. Trade, on the other hand, will not be affected by the new measures. The restriction also does not apply to gyms or aqua parks. Theaters and cinemas can continue to play for up to 500 people, but refreshment breaks are prohibited. Restrictions apply to performances with singing, such as opera or musicals. Sports matches can take place, but without spectators.

From Monday, the government will limit the number of people at church meetings to one hundred, keeping the gap. It is not to be sung during church ceremonies.

In districts that are marked in red or orange on the map according to the risk of infection, secondary schools are closed for two weeks. However, practical training will be able to take place in schools. The measures will be decided by hygienists in individual regions.

In addition, the Minister of Health Roman Prymula (for YES) admitted on Sunday that the options considered include the fact that secondary school pupils could also learn at a distance. He is said to present further measures on Friday.

In primary schools, music education will be taught without singing for 14 days. Gymnastics will be unrestricted in the first stage, in the second stage it should take place outdoors. Without singing, there will also be music education at secondary schools and conservatories, which will remain open. In the red and orange districts, in addition to secondary schools, there will also be primary art and higher vocational schools.

Rewards for paramedics

In Czech hospitals, a quarter of beds are currently available for patients requiring intensive care. At the same time, the measures that have just been introduced are to prevent the overcrowding of healthcare – especially the reduction of mass actions.

The prime minister wants to negotiate rewards for health professionals in the future. However, the state has not yet paid them extra money for their work during the first wave of the pandemic. However, the government approved them in August, and they should receive them in November. “It wasn’t until this week that we got the money from the Treasury,” Prymula said on Friday.

“It is necessary that the apparatus of the Ministry of Health, which is terribly slow and petrified, really pays the rewards to the health care workers as soon as possible,” Babiš said.

Thomayer Hospital has turned some wards into infected centers

At the same time, some healthcare facilities have to adapt quickly to the new situation. For example, at Thomayer Hospital in Prague, the number of people with a more severe covid-19 began to grow rapidly last week. “We are filling the capacity for the ceiling, a week ago we opened the department acutely for the expected increase,” said Martina Vašáková, head of the local pneumology clinic.

It looks similar in other places at Thomayer Hospital. Some wards have changed to coronavirus patient centers and have had to partially reduce their care. Even so, paramedics have more services than usual, as they have added care to those infected to work in their wards.

The hospital is therefore looking for new nurses. He wants to receive at least twenty of them. “I’ve been here basically every day for the last fortnight, even on weekends. It is very demanding for all those who work here and it is basically unbearable for them for a long time, “said Renáta Michalíčková, head nurse of Thomayer Hospital.
