According to Attaulla Afghans, the head of the provincial council, the prosecutor’s convoy was on his way to his office in the town of Lashkargah in southern Afghanistan when a car led by a bomber suicide bomber crashed into it.
No one has yet taken responsibility for what happened.
Meanwhile, in western Afghanistan, in Pharaoh province, near the Iranian border, a fire broke out for unknown reasons in a fuel depot burning at least two tankers with fuel and natural gas. The Afghan authorities have not been able to put out the fire on their own and have asked Iran for help, which immediately came to the rescue.
This is the second time in three weeks that there has been a major fire near the Afghanistan-Iran border.
