According to the California Department of Transportation, the debris “saturated the drainage infrastructure, flowed through the highway and eroded it, resulting in the complete loss of a segment of the highway,” which was washed into the waters of the Pacific Ocean. .

For his part, Gavin Newsom, governor of the state, has declared a state of emergency in the neighboring counties of Monterey and San Luis Obispo; Likewise, as a precautionary measure, thousands of inhabitants of this area have been evacuated due to the possibility that the storms will cause greater flows of mud and debris.

In the same way, the strong floods that have fallen on California have caused human and material losses in other regions of the state. In this sense, less two people have died as a result of the rains, while at least 25 structures have been damaged.
