A sculpture by Auguste Rodin was unveiled this Friday evening at the Chartres museum: “It’s like a 3D work”

“It’s like a 3D work. We have to turn it around”. Grégoire Hallé, gets carried away when he presents the sculpture of Auguste Rodin which sits in the old chapel of the Museum of Fine Arts in Chartres.

This Friday evening, the site’s curator, accompanied by the City’s cultural assistant, Isabelle Vincent, presented the new double exhibition which runs until October 2.

Some sketches come from a private collection

Cathedrala bronze from 1908 representing two joined right hands, was loaned by the Rodin Museum.

Presented behind glass from the entrance, it serves as a prelude to another exhibition, much more extensive: that devoted to the original drawings of Charles Jouas, which illustrate the first editions of the novel by Joris-Karl Huysmans, Cathedral.

Sixty-two engravings, prints or etchings are offered to the public. Some sketches come from the private collection of a Chartrain.
Even more astonishing, a manuscript, written by the author’s hands in 1897, is also on display.
