Difficult to disentangle the true from the false in this story, relayed by our colleagues from the Huffington Post. Upstream, a rumor that runs and spreads like wildfire. Downstream, a vaccination center stormed by dozens of New Yorkers, in a hurry to receive their dose.
The message, widely shared on social networks and the exact source of which has still not been established, ensured that the vaccination center located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal wanted to sell a surplus of doses of vaccine against the coronavirus, under the pretext that the date expiration date expired the same day.
Even though New York State does not have a vaccination protocol outside of at-risk patients and medical staff, many citizens have come to the center hoping to get vaccinated.
It will take local police intervention and a message from the mayor on Twitter to disperse the crowd. As for the content of the initial message, it is still unclear whether the center intended to sell off its vaccine stock.
