The restaurateur Vianney Godbout feels abandoned by the administration of the mayoress of Montreal, Valérie Plante, and does not give him “clearly not the passing mark” for his management of the pandemic.
In disagreement with some of the City’s developments, such as the closures of certain streets and the development of bicycle lanes, the co-owner of Chasse-Galerie, Cœur de Loup and de la Mignonette considers that Projet Montréal “is really in the process of creating damage that will be irreparable ”for the restaurant industry.

He gives as an example a public terrace that can be used by neighboring traders, but which, in fact, does not really help them due to several regulations.
“It’s a project that makes great photos […] It is free to all. We can let people hang out there for three hours without consuming anything and we have absolutely the right to say nothing. We are not allowed to sell a drop of alcohol if it is not bottles because it has been regulated like a park, ”he maintains.

The restaurateur adds that while some local businesses take advantage of decisions taken by the City of Montreal, others are having difficulty because their customers come from outside the neighborhood.
Godbout says he tried many times to speak to Mayor Plante, but was never able to. He also emphasizes that the latter seems to have free time, she who will soon launch a comic strip.
