Chernivtsi woman has been continuously ill with COVID-19 for more than 7 months

The woman became infected with the coronavirus in November last year, and found out about it by accident when she arrived in Germany for the next course of chemotherapy.

A resident of Chernivtsi, Yulia Drapata, has been continuously ill with coronavirus for 7 months and 13 days and thereby set a record in Ukraine. On Saturday, December 18, she told about this on her page in Facebook Head of the National Register of Records Lana Vetrova.

“Chernivtsi Yulia Drapata was continuously ill with COVID-19 for 7 months and 13 days,” Vetrova wrote.

Julia became infected last year, in November, and her symptoms of the disease disappeared after a few weeks, the report says. TSN.19: 30… The woman says that she found out about the disease by chance when she came to Germany for the next course of chemotherapy, because she is struggling with lymphoma.

“There was no temperature. I contacted the doctors, they said not to drink the antibiotic, because there is no temperature, that is, just to observe. Two weeks later I passed the test again – it was still positive,” Drapata said.

Later she developed pneumonia – 15% of her lungs were affected. However, there was no indication for hospitalization.

In general, Julia lived with the virus in the body for more than 7 months, although later she had no symptoms of the disease. Doctors were stunned, but assured that a woman could not infect others. German doctors hesitated whether to continue treatment for cancer in this case.

Only in June 2021, Julia finally received a negative test result. According to experts, such an anomaly could occur due to the fact that cancer therapy weakened the woman’s immunity.

As noted by the immunologist Oleg Nazar, suggested that a woman’s cancer could cause suppression of the immune system, which became the reason for the long life of the virus in the body.

In Ukraine, such a case when cancer patients remain carriers of the coronavirus for a long time is recorded for the first time. And although the woman is now completely free of the virus, she needs rehabilitation and complains of kidney problems.
