Failed Shooter Concord Reappears After Server Shutdown
Early Version Leak Sparks Hope for Revival
The ill-fated shooter Concord, which shut down after a short run, is back in the news. A pre-release build of the game has surfaced online, generating discussion amongst players, who are wondering if they can bring back the failed game from the dead.
Unearthing the “Dwchaos” Build
A preliminary version of Concord, the ill-fated PlayStation 5 and PC exclusive, has been leaked. This version, called “Dwchaos,” reportedly dates from November 14, 2023. The community now wonders if they can revive the title. It arrived on the market on August 23, 2024, and quickly disappointed. The game, which intended to be a flagship title, closed its servers after only two weeks.

Despite the game’s failure, one commemorative item sold for a high price. A commemorative plate from the game’s development was auctioned for $3,000. The average cost to develop a AAA game is estimated to be between $75–200 million (Statista, 2024).
Initial Release and Closure
The multiplayer title from Sony officially debuted on August 23, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC. The game garnered a peak of only 697 concurrent users on Steam. Following its failure, the game was withdrawn from digital stores, and the servers were permanently shut down.
Early Game Features
The leaked version contains an unfinished “Galactic Guide,” which provides information about each planet. It also has art and descriptions for the 16 “Freegunners.” The menu also includes a “Job bag” and a “Premium store,” yet neither shows any significant information.

This build, dating from late 2023, shows what the game was like nine months before its official launch. The hero selection menu looks a bit different, showcasing 2D art instead of 3D portraits.
Can Servers Be Revived?
Due to its multiplayer nature, the earlier version does not allow access to games. The configuration menu, however, shows some options related to “matchmaking.” The community may be able to develop an offline version.

The leak’s impact and whether it will bring about revival are uncertain. It’s unclear how the preliminary version found its way onto the internet.
