A new date for the battle of Povetkin and White was approved. Reedus

The fight of the Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin, postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, against British interim champion WBC heavyweight champion Dillian White will be held on August 22 in Essex, UK.


According to the press service of the promotion company Boxing World, this fight will be the final in a series of four boxing nights planned for August called Matchroom Fight Camp. It is noted that they will be held in the open air without spectators.

I am very glad that Dillian and I learned a new date for our battle and we can begin full training. Dillian is a good, strong boxer, it will be interesting to box with him. This is also an important fight for me, – said Povetkin.

It was originally planned that the battle would take place in Manchester on May 2, but due to the situation with the coronavirus, it was first moved to July and then to August.

Alexander Povetkin has 35 victories, 24 of them by knockout, as well as two losses and one draw. Dillian White has 27 victorious fights (18 by KO) and one defeat.

Recall that Alexander Povetkin three times won the title of champion of Russia, twice – the champion of Europe, once – the world champion according to AIBA and the Olympic champion in amateur competitions. Over the years of his professional career, Povetkin also managed to collect world titles according to WBA, WBC Silver, WBO International and WBA Continental. According to the World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion, Povetkin lost his world title in 2013 after losing to Wladimir Klitschko.
