The metal structures of the Suzan Daniel Bridge, which will span the Brussels Canal by connecting Tour & Taxis and Gare du Nord, arrived in the capital by boat on Thursday, at the Quai des Péniches. The bridge should be operational next summer.
The future bridge that will pass over the quays is specifically intended for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. It will allow users to take a shorter route. Two traffic areas will be set up on the 200-meter-long bridge: a seven-meter-wide lane for public transport and a six-meter-wide cycling and pedestrian zone.
The bridge was named Suzan Daniel in honor of the LGBT activist. The work should be completed by summer 2021. The price of the project, including studies, is 9.4 million euros, Beliris reports.
