A new art gallery in Bastia

The very pretty gallery takes its name from the first names of the fathers of their designers. Charles, father of Alexandre Santerian and Thierry, father of Alexandrine Raison. If the latter has Breton roots, Alexandre, who has sailed a lot between Bastia and Aix en Provence, claims it on the side of Ville di Pietrabugno where his father, the photographer Charles Santerian was buried after his disappearance last January. And it is moreover to this wonderful photographer that the gallery’s first exhibition will be dedicated, from August 12 to September 12, nearly 30 quality black and white works, some of which have won international awards. Charles Santerian has indeed received the “Mostra fotografica” prize in Perugia, the gold medal for the artistic prize of the Marseille bar association, and has also been a laureate of the Rencontres Internationales de la photographie en Arles. Charles Santerian was also for many years a journalist at Provençal in Aix en Provence.

This new 35 m² gallery, ideally located a stone’s throw from Place Saint Nicolas, is the result of a project maturing over several months by the Alexandrine / Alexandre couple. “We wanted to innovate by doing in conceptual art»Explains Alexandrine Raison. “We had several premises in sight, but this one on two levels seemed ideal. It is open to all creators, artists, writers, producers“. On the ground floor, a bright, bright room houses the works of artists. “This gallery is a place of exchange »Adds Alexandre Santerian. “We do not rent it to exhibitors. We partner with them in the form of a commission on their sales, if they make any. Anyone can come and exhibit and we are looking for talent. We want to make it a cultural place with our ideas, localist, to create events there“. And besides, many events are already planned at Coquet 1is floor!

«1is floor is a juice bar »Specifies Alexandrine. “It will be a place dedicated to tastings, discoveries, literary cafes». At the opening, a children’s novel was premiered: “Aux Pays des ocres” by Gaspard Collavery. The couple had also invited Adrien Deluc, who offered a tasting / sale of Corsican herbal teas from the wild picking of medicinal plants. The music was not absent either, distilled by Lisandru Federici on vocals and guitar.
A beautiful opening that prefigures other beautiful events: Three literary cafes (5 p.m. / 8 p.m.) are in fact already scheduled:

On August 17, for its first literary café, the Charles Thierry gallery will offer to come and participate, discuss over coffee or tea on the subject of teaching in the Corsican language: inventory and perspectives.
On September 3, there will be talk of Corsica’s food independence: at a time when Corsica imports 80% of the products it consumes, some economists are advocating a radical change in consumption and thus controlling Corsica’s food self-sufficiency.
Finally, on Thursday 10 September, the theme will be: The Challenge of popular culture in Corsica. Corsica is the birthplace of many talents, both in the artistic, artisanal and creative fields. What emerging place is open to them for discovery to the general public in Corsica and beyond?
Also in preparation for the coming of tattoo artists / piercers from Monaco in November, an exhibition by jewelry designer Markita, at the end of September and a painter, Valérie Ragacci, at the end of August
