A minute of silence at the Quimperlé hospital to denounce the lack of means – Quimperlé

Friday afternoons follow one another and look alike at the La Villeneuve hospital center in Quimperlé. Like last week, part of the nursing staff gathered at 2:30 p.m. to observe a minute of silence in order to denounce “the planned death of the public hospital”. On January 14, about fifty people took part in the first action. This Friday, there were around thirty of them, doctors, nurses, caregivers, silently expressing their concern and their anger. This movement, born on January 7 in hospitals in Alsace, is spreading throughout France. This silence is, according to the nursing staff, that of the public authorities.

We want to continue to care, despite budget cuts, bed closures and staff burnout.

It is also a symbolic echo of the public applause and encouragement that punctuated the first confinement in the spring of 2020, during the first wave of the covid-19 pandemic. “We want to continue to provide care, despite budget cuts, bed closures and staff burnout. But we can’t take it anymore. Staff involvement is no longer enough,” they warn. These symbolic actions, which will be repeated every Friday at the beginning of the afternoon, are intended to challenge elected officials and alert users.

Sud Santé Sociaux calls for demonstrations

For its part, the Sud Santé Sociaux union calls for demonstrations on Thursday January 27, at 10:30 a.m. from the Orientis in Lorient, as part of the National Day of Inter-union Action. “Staff in the hospital, social and medico-social sectors have been exhausted in the face of the pandemic and government measures for almost two years: no additional bed in intensive care and in medical services! No additional place in social and medico-social reception, support or accommodation services! No additional staff in all these services! It is not a white plan but a survival plan for the public hospital that we need, ”denounces the union in a press release.
