A miniature train museum?

A devouring passion but above all requiring a maximum of space. Joël Rigaud, president of Aubiet Modélisme, is a model railroader. With the volunteers of his association, in a room of 60 m², the former school of Lussan, he goes up a network of trains. After two years, after long hours of work, they got there and they see the end of the tunnel… The trains are finally running. But the circuit completely fills the available space.

However, this is not the only project of the association. For some time, it has “inherited” a circuit of miniature trains … with 400 meters of rails. Incredible, right? It must be dismantled because it is installed, in Narbonne, in a house intended to be sold.

Afterwards, it will therefore be necessary to find a point of fall for it to go up.

A Gers miniature rail museum: which municipality will want to be associated with this project?

This is where a not so unrealistic project was born: to create a specialized museum in the Gers.

To do this, you have to find an available location. Contacts are in progress with the town hall of Gimont, that of Mauvezin also seems interested. But nothing very concrete for the moment. This is why an appeal is launched to find a room large enough to develop the association’s project.

The economic benefits of such a project are assured. Just see the craze for the only amusement park of its kind, created in 2016 by another enthusiast of model making and miniatures: the Mini World Lyon. The largest miniature park in France presents steam locomotives, TGVs and freight trains traveling through fairy-like landscapes in miniature, but also a scale model version of the capital of Gaul. Made on the model of miniature wonderland located in Hamburgthere is the largest miniature railroad network in the world – the success of the French park is such that a second park has emerged, the Mini World Côte d’Azur, in Toulon.

What if one day, a Gers museum of the train (or of the toy?) Made talk about the municipality which will welcome it! With less than five years of existence, this is the case of the Toy Museum of Montauban; it has been selected and it will be featured in Jean-Pierre Pernaut’s newspaper on TF1.

What best represents the Christmas spirit in the regions?

To find out, the TF1 1 p.m. Televised Journal asked its seventeen correspondents. “It was obvious to give them carte blanche! They know their region, its treasures and traditions better than anyone else, and they are keen to share them with our viewers” explains Jean-Pierre Pernaut.

For this second edition, each correspondent therefore offers his “favorite”. From Monday November 23 until Tuesday December 15, they will come to defend their choice live and with a report in the 1 p.m.

On December 17th, the winner of the “Your favorite Christmas 2020” edition will be revealed among all these extremely varied possibilities.

Alsace: the Bredeles; Aquitaine: a collector of Father Christmas; Auvergne: an illuminated house; Brittany: the Locronan market; Center: a stuffed animal store; Corsica: the vigil before Christmas; Franche-Comté: a master Chocolatier; Languedoc-Roussillon: the virtual enchantments of Aniane; Limousin: porcelain balls; Lorraine: Saint-Nicolas; Normandy: Christmas decorations; Pays de Loire: decorations from Laval; Picardy: the illuminations of the cathedral of Amiens; Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur: the santons fair and the Luceram nurseries; Rhône-Alpes: candied chestnuts from Ardèche.

For our Midi-Pyrénées region, the Montauban toy museum is the blow of heart of the regional correspondent.

A museum that makes the little ones dream and the older ones return to childhood.

Toys by the thousands, from the antique 19th century doll to the electric train, from the little soldier to the giant Meccano, a wonderful world where everyone, big or small, inevitably falls back into childhood. Unique games made by elders, but also very rare pieces like a valuable wooden boat or a 200 year old goose game. There is something for all tastes and all eras. It is not uncommon to see grown-up children here, moms or dads, wearing out their pants while playing toy cars on the ground. This favorite is also a tip of the hat to all the volunteers of the association “La cité des enfants” who bring this magical place to life by sharing their collections.

To participate, you must vote by going to the TF1 site which offers a presentation clip to find out. Attention 32 seconds only on this occasion.

The associated program presenting the museum will be broadcast this wednesday 25 november during the midday television news. There, a 3 to 4 minute report will allow the viewer to make his choice. Be careful, the competition seems tough; Aquitaine which proposed, today, the discovery of a paternataliphile [1], can be a tough competitor!

Gérard Misraï, president of the association and founder of the museum, does not hide his joy at having been selected by TF1 for the Midi-Pyrénées region. “Do not hesitate to vote for us, he said, there are seventeen candidates, so why not us? “
