a man suspected of being the author of a shooting on August 3 has been arrested, indicted and imprisoned

A 23-year-old man arrested on Friday August 21 in the Var was indicted and imprisoned on Sunday in Isère, where the courts suspect him of a fatal settling of accounts in early August in Eybens, near Grenoble, according to the prosecution.

On August 3 at the end of the evening in Eybens, a car occupied by three individuals from the city was forced to stop by an obstacle blocking the road and suffered several shots.

The right front passenger, born in 1993 in La Tronche, was killed instantly; the driver, born in 1996 in Grenoble, slightly injured, fled and called for help; the rear passenger, born in Échirolles in 1997, got out of the vehicle, was unharmed.

The perpetrator was reportedly carrying a long gun and a handgun. A car stolen the night before and corresponding to the one he used was found set on fire in Grenoble about an hour after the incident.

An investigation of flagrance for assassination was opened, entrusted to the research section of Grenoble as well as to the departmental group of Isère. The gendarmes used a DNA profile found at the crime scene, corresponding to a 23-year-old man very unfavorably known to the services.

On August 18, the Grenoble prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation and a search warrant was launched. The suspect was arrested Friday, August 21 around 6:00 p.m. at the Sanary-sur-Mer SNCF station, in the south, while he was going to take the train, said the public prosecutor, Eric Vaillant, on Sunday.

Placed in custody and then transferred to Grenoble for presentation to the investigating magistrate, the man was indicted for murder, attempted murder, theft and fire of a vehicle and placed in detention. “the facts occur in a tense context of settling of scores between drug traffickers” in the Grenoble area.

The gendarmes from Isère were supported by their colleagues from the GIGN, the Var group, the Marseille research section, as well as the regional legal support sections of Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
