36-year-old man suspected of assault which caused the death of a forties on Sunday in Savoy, was indicted on Tuesday for “assassination” and placed in detention at the Chambéry prison, the prosecution said.
His partner, aged 44, was also removed Tuesday afternoon, two days after this knife attack that occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the middle of the street in Aime-La-Plagne, a town in the Tarentaise valley, around twenty kilometers from the ski resort of La Plagne.
She was indicted for “complicity in assassination” and was imprisoned at the Bonneville prison, said the prosecutor of Chambéry, which opened a judicial investigation.
Stopped at a gas station
The couple had been in police custody at the Albertville gendarmerie since Sunday after being arrested by the gendarmes at around 4:00 p.m. that day, an hour after the report of a knife attack on the public highway that cost the lives of a 41-year-old man who happened to be the ex-companion of the forties.
The two suspects were arrested at a gas station while refueling. Their car was quickly reported by witnesses to the attack to gendarmes dispatched to the scene of the tragedy. In total, around twenty of them were then mobilized to find the couple.
The victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest when help arrived. Despite the rapid intervention of a firefighter who was not far from the scene of the attack, she quickly lost consciousness and could not be revived.
