A man in a wheelchair demonstrates a solar-powered “elevator” that can lift him up and down in his third-floor apartment.
The footage shows Alexander Yudin, 69, being lifted off the ground and carried to the balcony of his apartment in southern Russia with a device he designed.
Video clips show him arriving outside his apartment complex in Timashevsk, in the Krasnador region, and waiting for his belt to be removed from his balcony.
He was then seen pinned in his wheelchair before he was lifted off the ground and climbed outside the apartment building.
He finally made it to his balcony where he opened the gate, straightened his wheelchair and slid in.
Yuden, an electrician, has also installed solar panels to power the lift, so the lift will not jam inside or outside his home if his town experiences a power outage.

It took Pak Yudin months to build the strange contraption, which he designed after he became less mobile.
He lost one of his legs in a car crash in the 1990s, but three years earlier he had broken the other leg in a fall and was left unable to walk.
Resident access is not compromised in his apartment building and the stairs are too narrow for his wheelchair.
Speaking to Reuters, he said: “I lied to the staff and thought about how to avoid immobilizing myself, and how to get out of this situation.
Even when I wake up, I need someone else to get out of the house. Since everyone is working, it’s not an option.
Mr. Yuden said he built an elevator so he can get out of his apartment without relying on other people to help him

He added that his device restored his life, that he had work and communicated with others outside his home.
