A magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred in the Southwest of Banten

DEPOK, KOMPAS.com – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 B on Tuesday (7/7/2020) at 11.44.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 82 km and no tsunami potential.

The epicenter was 18 km southwest of Rangkas Bitung, Banten.

This earthquake was felt by some residents of Jakarta and Depok.

Kristianto Purnomo, a resident of Depok, West Java, felt himself initially felt rocky. He also saw the chairs and television in his house in the Jatimulya area also shifted.

“At first I thought, I was dizzy. But when I saw the chair and TV sliding, it meant an earthquake,” the man who is familiarly called Kape told Kompas.com.

Vibration was also felt by Icha Rastika, a resident of Cisauk, Tangerang Regency. Icha who was working on the mattress, felt the mattress was pulled down.

The same is true for Palupi, a resident of Gunung Sindur, Bogor Regency.

“Again sitting in a chair like suddenly dropped down like that,” said Palupi.

“What I felt was the vibrations for about three seconds,” Kape said.
