A longer lockdown means a fatal threat to cars

Stricter government restrictions will hit the entire domestic automotive industry hard, primarily at Škoda Auto, TPCA and Hyundai. Until the end of September alone, this year’s difficulties resulting from the corona crisis caused a massive year-on-year decline in passenger car production by a quarter. The next wave of measures is likely to lead to an even deeper decline.

Car shops have to close again, only car repair shops will remain open. “The sales ban will spill over into the whole chain and the economic implications of this decision can be far-reaching,” warned Bohdan Wojnar, president of the Automotive Industry Association.
