A long affair for IDI results in Terawan’s dismissal

Jakarta

The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) fires a doctor Terawan Agus Putranto as a member. In the aftermath of Terawan’s dismissal, IDI faced a long business.

Commission IX of the DPR RI, which is in charge of health, has defended Terawan. Council members also suggested that IDI be summoned to Senayan.

“I have suggested that Commission IX summon IDI to be held accountable for the dismissal,” said Member of Commission IX of the DPR RI NasDem Faction Irma Suryani Chaniago when contacted, Sunday (27/3/2022).

Irma considered IDI’s decision to be arrogant. He highlighted the competency test for young doctors which is still relatively difficult at this time.

“NasDem actually sees IDI as being arrogant as well as being very exclusive and elitist,” he said.

Indonesia still needs a lot of doctors but let’s see how difficult it is for young doctors who want to work due to the difficulty of competency tests. If I’m not mistaken there are 2,500 people,” he continued.

Irma was of the view that IDI could not handle the plight of the young doctors and instead decided to fire Dr Terawan whom he considered to be senior and experienced.

“It’s no longer useful for young doctors to want to fire doctors who are experienced and qualified like Dr. Terawan,” he said.

“IDI should be able to fight for trivial things like this. Do not let young doctors who want to serve the country even be left unemployed,” he said.

Terawan’s dismissal is considered excessive

Meanwhile, Member of Commission IX of the DPR RI from the Democratic Party faction, Lucy Kurniasari, considered Terawan’s dismissal to be excessive. He considered that IDI should have warned Terawan first.

“Dismissal Terawan Agus Putranto by IDI seems excessive and disproportionate. IDI should not have fired Terawan just because he was deemed to have violated professional ethics. Terawan should have been given enough warning and guidance so that he can correct ethical mistakes,” said Lucy.
