A light trail set up in the medieval city of Montluçon (Allier)

It is a trip to the end of the night that the town hall of Montlucon (Allier)… not by candlelight, but by that of 130 little blue lights fixed to the floor of the Medieval city, the historic city center. Which draw a route connecting “Ten places of interest”, buildings or heritage sites. Everything was inaugurated this Friday, December 4, in the presence of elected officials and actors of the project.

The course

He’s stretching from the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon to the Place Saint-Pierre… Through the castle / square de la Romagère, the Fondue tower, the theater, the town hall, the MuPop, the passage du Doyenné, the Notre-Dame church and the rue de la Fontaine.

The establishment

This initiative, called “Montluçon lights up: journey to the heart of the medieval city”, will have cost 60.000 euros to the municipality. From a distance of 1,500 meters approximately, this plot is automatically illuminated at nightfall, for five consecutive hours, with plots operating at 100% solar powered. So the longer the day will last depending on the season, the later they will stay on. Only monuments will always go out at midnight, in accordance with the regulations.

The purpose of the operation

“The objective is both to to rediscover their city to Montluçonnais and allow tourists to let yourself be guided from light to light, from place to place, ”depicts Alric Berton, the deputy mayor in charge of the dossier.
