The prominent mathematician Kosta Kolarov, author of dozens of textbooks and collections in mathematics, has died at the age of 82. He is one of the three teachers in Bulgaria, the first to receive the title of “Head Teacher”.

Kosta Kolarov and a group of retired teachers have developed a small textbook for those who do not study. They had prepared a gift together with the textbook – a calculator and a geometric line. They were willing to teach children elementary mathematics voluntarily, but they did not find understanding from their superiors in the education system.
Born on May 6, 1938, in his baptismal certificate he is recorded as Kosta-Georgi Bonchev Kolarov. His father was a goldsmith and his mother a housewife. He graduated from high school with honors and was immediately accepted to study mathematics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He graduated in 1960. On September 1 of the same year he started working as a mathematics teacher at the First High School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. In 1969 he was appointed chief specialist in mathematics at the ONS-Dobrich. He is one of the three teachers in Bulgaria, the first to receive the title of “Head Teacher” in our country.
After its creation, he started working at the Geo Milev Language High School. He is actively involved in the theoretical foundations of mathematics pedagogy. Kosta Kolarov was the first democratically elected chairman of the Dobrich Municipal Council.
