An asteroid marked as (7482) 1994 PC1 with a very large diameter (over 1 km) on Tuesday (January 18) will fly near the Earth. You will be able to see it with an amateur telescope at 22:51 Polish time. NASA will show the flight of this space rock on the Internet. Live stream.

On Tuesday, January 18, at. At 22:51 CET, a large asteroid marked as 7482 (1994 PC1) will fly near the Earth. The uniqueness of this event is the size of this cosmic rock. The asteroids that pass near the Earth every day are usually up to several dozen meters in diameter. The asteroid (7482) 1994 PC1 has a diameter of as much as 1.052 km, informs PAP.

The object will be visible through an amateur telescope. It will also be possible to observe the flight of this asteroid during the online broadcast on the Asteroid Station YouTube channel or on the NASA website. At the moment of its closest approach to the Earth, the asteroid will be approx. 1.98 million kilometers from our planet (over 5 times further than the Earth’s distance from the Moon).

The asteroid has been classified as “potentially dangerous”, but its collision with Earth is not possible. The asteroid was discovered by Robert McNaught. The first observations of this object come from the 1970s.
