A hybrid of three Volga hit motorists – ready to line up

Volgazon looks more powerful than any Kruzak or Gelika.

This unusual SUV was created in 1997 by an entrepreneur from Kazakhstan, who decided to cross three Volga at once: GAZ-66, GAZ-31029 and GAZ-3307. “Shishiga” handed over the hybrid frame, axles, transfer case and large wheels, the truck GAZ-3307 rework borrowed the front fenders, arches and transmission, and the sedan gave the SUV a recognizable body. As for the cabin, there are rumors on the network that it was not taken from the GAZ-31029 at all, but from the GAZ-24 – but the pictures could not be found.

The back of the super-Volga was custom made in an unusual way, closing the trunk with an awning, which is why the body shape of the SUV began to resemble a station wagon. The car passed a series of tests, during which it showed excellent behavior on rough terrain, not being afraid of either ford or heavy climbs with a slope of 45 degrees.

It turned out that the hybrid of the GAZ-66, GAZ-31209 and GAZ-3307 is capable of developing a maximum speed of 98.5 kilometers per hour, as well as to overcome water bodies with a depth of 1.4 meters. The capacity of the SUV was 850 kg, and the car itself weighed 2.5 tons.

It is interesting that the creator of the hybrid from GAZ-3307, GAZ-3209 and GAZ-66, Alexander Fedorovich Loktev, managed to achieve the issuance of certification for small-scale production of an SUV under a personal brand. So an unusual car received the trademark LAF-4101, in honor of the initials of the designer. Initially, an SUV costs $ 8 thousand, but soon the price rose to 15 thousand.

However, LAF-4101 production was curtailed 5 years after the start against the backdrop of the economic crisis: ordinary customers ceased to consider the hybrid price tag from Volga adequate, and the army, firefighters, the Ministry of Emergencies and other government agencies could not find money to order an SUV. A total of approximately 50 copies were produced.

The hybrid of the three Volga struck motorists on social networks: “These are SUVs that need to be released,” users say, and are ready to line up for LAF-4101 if they put it on sale again. In their opinion, such a car would be worth now at the UAZ Patriot level, but unlike the UAZ, it is much better suited for fishing and hunting. “Volga on steroids,” commentators joke.
