The church of Saint-Pierre de Touques opens its doors for a unique cultural and historical exhibition: “A history of the school” (© Sophie QUESNEL)
For a weekend, the town hall’s history committee and the “Touques en Fête” association are offering for the first time a discovery of the school through time with a retrospective of the elementary school and its educational techniques through the centuries, an exhibition of dozens of unpublished documents dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries that bear witness to the history of school education, immersion in the school of the 1920s – 1960s with authentic staging, retrospective of the history of writing from the 17th to the 20th century from the archives of the Club des Collectionneurs d’Objets d’Écriture, initiation to writing with a metallic pen and ink or a presentation of history of the school of Touques from the archives of the association of “Former students of the School of Touques” including a large collection of class photos. Each visitor will have fun passing a 1920s study certificate.
These Days, both cultural and historical, will be an opportunity for each visitor to celebrate more intensely than ever the beauty and the richness of this small city of character.
Practice
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with an extension of the exhibition on September 25 and 26. Free admission.
