A historical film helmet | Radio Vigo

The sixteenth edition of the International Film Festival Play-Doc, Held from September 23 to 27, it will be committed to combining cinema and tourism with a new experience.

Under the name of “Cinema-Tours. Drifting night “, Five Galician video artists, under the direction of Xisela Franco, will intervene in the monumental area of ​​Tui, turning the city into an open-air cinema space in motion. Adrián Canoura, Laura Iturralde, Roi Fernandez, Bego M. Santiago and Miriam Rodríguez, are the artists chosen for the occasion. In addition to their own material, these five creators will use in their works homemade super 8 films recorded in the 60s, 70s and 80s by residents of Tui and digitized in Play-Doc 2018 by La Cinematográfica and provided by the families for this re-appropriation artistic.

The tour will begin with the proposal of Roi Fernández in the Church of Santo Domingo To reflect on the traces that we are leaving on the road, after him, the group will go to the Santo Domingo laundry where the visual artist Miriam Rodríguez will evoke through sounds and projections on the water of her basin the life of the laundry as a meeting point for the women who came there. The experience will continue in Frómista Square where the artist, set designer and illuminator Laura Iturralde proposes a large-format audiovisual installation where a multitude of eyes will follow the viewer, connecting this idea with the “balcony policemen” that emerged during confinement. The old prison of Tui it will host the video installation by Bego M. Santiago, a visual artist, who reflects on the generational evolution of families. Finally, it will be the turn of Adrián Canoura, who will turn the inner courtyard of the old prison into a multimedia storage room, where he will play with the images of an old film footage, mixing it with contemporary audiovisual trends.

This audiovisual proposal will take place on Friday, September 25. Visits will be restricted to groups of 25 people who will leave at staggered schedules from the Glorieta de Vigo in Tui (next to the monument to the Horses) and reservations must be made by purchasing a ticket in advance on the website of the Play-Doc. Each square has a cost of 5 euros.
