A historic partnership between UNESCO and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) to strengthen student learning in French-speaking Africa

UNESCO and AUF, working in the field of education, signed on Tuesday January 26, 2021 a memorandum of understanding in order to develop synergies and complementarities of their actions.

Indeed, UNESCO, which gives high priority to improving the quality of education, works on the production and dissemination of educational resources for educational institutions and for primary and secondary students. in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa. In this context, the UNESCO multisectoral regional office for West Africa-Sahel is implementing a project aimed at strengthening national policies and the capacities of French-speaking African countries to produce educational resources for the basic education.

AUF has the appropriate expertise to help improve the quality of education, particularly in higher education and for French-speaking countries. Its LEARN program, Support for the Professionalization of Teaching Practices and the Development of Resources, thus benefits from a network of experts who can effectively contribute to the deployment of educational resources in French-speaking African countries south of the Sahara.
