Former Minister of Transport Yaya Sow, who was suspended and then dismissed on November 16, 2022 for alleged acts of corruption, embezzlement of public funds and complicity around the award of public contracts to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, has just obtained a dismissal of this case by the investigating chamber of the CRIEF.
In this decision made public yesterday Tuesday October 31, 2023, judge Mohamed Camara of the CRIEF investigating chamber pronounced an acquittal in favor of Yaya Sow. In addition to the former minister, five of his co-defendants in this case also benefited from this acquittal.
On the other hand, Saa Yolandé Camara (former national director of road maintenance), Aly Camara (general director of the FER road maintenance fund) and François Toupou (former secretary general of the said ministry) were, for their part, referred to the trial court for acts of attempted corruption.
As a reminder, it was following the broadcast of an audio in the media and social networks that the former Minister of Transport and several other executives of the said department were suspended, then dismissed from their functions and prosecuted before the CRIEF for corruption.
