A “dynamic tower” with pivoting floors presented in New York

An ultramodern “Dynamic Tower”, whose project was unveiled in New York, will allow its inhabitants to change the orientation of their apartments to change the landscape or follow the progression of the sun.

This project by the Italian architect David Fisher, intended for Dubai, includes 80 floors made of prefabricated modules rotating around a vertical axis.

Another 70-story mobile skyscraper, designed on the same principle, is planned in Moscow. “We hope to be able to build a third tower in New York or in another city”, explained the architect on Tuesday in New York

The 420-meter-high “Dynamic Tower” of Dubai will house luxury apartments ranging from 125 to 1,200 square meters, sold for $ 30,000 per square meter, or between $ 3.7 and $ 36 million.

On a simple voice command from its occupant, each apartment will pivot on its axis and make a complete turn in one to three hours.

It will be a “smart” and “green” building, with the most recent home automation equipment and generating its own electricity thanks to 79 horizontal wind turbines installed between each floor.

The happy owners will be able to have breakfast while admiring the sunrise and dinner while contemplating its sunset, from the same room, and their guests can discover several landscapes, without moving from their armchairs.

“These buildings open a new era in the way we perceive our environment,” enthuses Mr. Fischer. And the rotation of each floor will also change the general appearance of the skyscraper, ready in 2010, he notes.

The prefabricated elements will begin to be assembled within two to three weeks in Bari, southern Italy.

With these prefabricated modules, construction will be six times faster than that of a traditional tower and costs reduced by 10%, according to Fisher, who estimates the price of his skyscraper at $ 700 million.
