A dozen asteroids approach Earth this week

One of those celestial bodies is larger than 90% of what we know in the solar system.

Several asteroids will approach Earth this week, according to esteem the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) that NASA owns in Pasadena (California, USA).

The largest of those heavenly bodies, 163348 (2002 NN4), it will pass about 5.09 million kilometers from our planet – about 13 times the distance to which the Moon is located – on June 6 and its diameter is calculated to be between 250 and 570 meters.

Although considered relatively small in absolute terms, this Aten-class asteroid is larger than about 90% of such objects found in our solar system and has a very wide orbit around the Sun.

Five other small celestial bodies, about 20 meters in diameter, will approach Earth on June 2. Of them, the 2020 KK7 it is the one that will come closest, up to 513,120 kilometers, something more than the distance between Earth and the Moon.

Also, seven other asteroids of a similar size will be approaching in the following days.
