A diagnosis investigation? Don’t be afraid to take the step

Whether you have a predisposition to certain diseases, would like to prevent diseases or have been referred by your GP, sometimes a diagnosis is needed. A diagnostic examination may consist of a blood test, a test of the eyes or heart function or examination of other body material. That can be scary at times, but it’s important to know if your body is in good health. Are you unsure about doing a diagnosis? Don’t be afraid to take the step. The rash can sometimes be life-threatening.
By doing a diagnosis, you can stay one step ahead of diseases. Because you know what is going on with your body, you can also take steps to counteract the symptoms. Eurofins offers all clinical analysis options with five renowned laboratories in the Netherlands. There are various diagnostic tests that you can have. We list them for you.

Histology

Research is being conducted into the change in the structure of tissues for skin, nails and organs. On the basis of this, an optimal treatment can be determined.

Cytology

A distinction is made herein between a cervical examination and a non-cervix examination. In the latter case, any abnormalities in, for example, urine, lungs and glands are examined. The cervical examination looks for abnormalities in the cervix. Think of the smear from the Population Screening to detect cervical cancer at an early stage.

Molecular diagnostics

This diagnostic test examines whether DNA/RNA from micro-organisms is present in the body. This often happens with a PCR test, the test that we now know well because of COVID. But not only this virus can be detected with it. A PCR test can detect bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi in the body. In molecular diagnostics, analyzes can also be performed with a prognostic character for the optimal treatment of cancer.
Clinical Chemistry
This involves research into the molecules and cells in the blood and other body fluids. The purpose of this is to demonstrate or exclude diseases and to monitor the effect of treatment. Analyzes of a preventive or prognostic nature can also be performed.

Medical Microbiology

This is a specialist investigation into the presence of micro-organisms, such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and antibodies against them in, among other things, blood, saliva, urine or faeces. Also, the pathogenesis and epidemiology of infectious diseases can be investigated with medical microbiology. For example, by identifying a bacterium and the associated antibiogram, a medical microbiologist can advise the most appropriate antibiotic treatment.
Other studies
In addition to the above investigations, a diagnosis can also consist of a heart ultrasound, EKG scan, fundus photography and even driver’s license examinations.
