The footballers from Banská Bystrica presented themselves in the highest competition at home in Štiavničky after seven long years. In the 4th round of the Fortuna League, they welcomed the vice-champion Ružomberok in the Central Slovak derby, and more than three and a half thousand people visited the stadium under Urpín.

They were already pleased with Dukla’s opening quick goal in the third minute, and the half-time score of 2:0 gave the promise that the premier could be a success for the people of Banskobystrica. However, the opposite was true. Liptáci turned the game around in thirteen minutes, between the 73rd and 86th minutes, and from 2:0 it became 2:3. “We are not satisfied. We played the match quite well. For more than seventy minutes, the score on the pitch was 2:0, so it goes without saying that we should have finished the match better. Winning until the end. It’s cruel when the opponent gives you three goals in less than fifteen minutes,” David Depetris, the scorer of Banská Bystrica’s first goal, did not hide his disappointment.

The former Slovakian representative considered the decisive goal of Ružomberok, which his teammate Pišoja took care of for the patriots, to be the key. “The people of Ružomberok got into the game with a contact goal at 2:1, although they weren’t really in the round of 16 until then in the second half. Suddenly they took a risk, a penalty was awarded, it was 2:2 and the match was open again. Small details matter, but I will say with respect that we should have won this duel.

In the first half, we had many chances, we played well in the block, we were concentrated, we went into counterattacks and we could score not only two, but also four goals. As if he is not playing. 2:0 was already a good result, it’s just a shame that it turned out that way in the end. We have to look ahead now and manage the next matches.” added the Argentinian striker with a Slovak passport.

Depetris did not forget to praise the audience either. “They created a great backdrop for us. I hope that they will continue to come to the stadium in such large numbers and we will definitely try to repay them for that. Even against Ružomberok, our whole team fought, we showed the game with heart. The result was not what we expected, but I want to thank the people very much for coming to support us.”

The first home duel of the current season was also difficult for Ľubomír Willwéber, the second scorer in the Banská Bystrica team: “Except for the fifteen minutes during which Ružomberok gave us three goals, we were better the whole match. We could score four goals in the first half. We definitely had more chances, so I’m terribly sorry and certainly the whole cabin as well. I don’t know what happened during those fifteen minutes mentioned. Maybe it was caused by poor concentration, a little slacking off, but I don’t think anyone would have dropped anything on purpose. Maybe we got ‘lucky’, I don’t know. We have to go over it on video and see. We have an experienced team, if we win 2:0 in the first half, then we clearly have to watch it in the second half.”

Even Willwéber did not forget the great spectators at Štiavničky: “They were amazing. I was there when Dukla was relegated to the second league, which was not pleasant, but now it was a beautiful return after seven years. I’m just sorry that we didn’t celebrate the return with a victory. We hope that we will succeed in the next matches.”

Substitute Ružomberčany player Marko Kelemen took care of the great turnaround under Urpín. He came on the pitch in the 66th minute and scored the first goal, while he scored the third winner himself. “We believed until the very end that we could handle this match. I’m glad that my goal was the winner. I didn’t train for almost a whole week. I was preparing outside due to health problems. The coach asked me before the match if I could handle twenty-thirty minutes . I wanted to help the guys and it worked out,” revealed the forward Liptákov, who got past Dukla defender Marián Pišoj for the first and third goals. “I have known ‘Piškót’ for a long time, we were also in the national team together. Maybe you didn’t guard me and I escaped somehow. Fortunately, I also scored goals, so great.”

The duel under Urpín was specific for Lipták midfielder Filip Lichy. He was born in Banská Bystrica and worked in Dukla until he was sixteen. After the great turn, he didn’t even hide his personal feelings: “Probably no one expected such a course of the match. It didn’t develop according to our expectations, but the winning mentality of our team showed. We pulled each other and locked ourselves. It was special for me, I grew up in Banská Bystrica, I played for Dukla for eleven years. It was a beautiful emotion for me in a beautiful stadium. We won, so for me it couldn’t be better than this kind of comeback.”
