This is called solidarity. On Thursday afternoon, in England, around 30 people formed a human chain to rescue a swimmer in distress off the beach at Durdle Door.
The Coast Guard said the individual found himself in difficulty due to particularly rough seas, reports BBC News. Because of the waves, he could no longer reach the coast. A person who noticed him then went to his rescue, but also found himself in difficulty.
Safe and sound
The bathers on the beach then took each other’s hands to move as far as possible towards the sea, to try to catch the two unfortunate people.
The action was a success. The two people were returned safe and sound to dry land. “The whole beach applauded when the two men returned. They did not need to be taken care of by paramedics ”, tells the Sun an eyewitness.
The coastguard has issued a safety warning following the incident on Thursday afternoon, urging people not to swim in the sea where there have been several deaths in recent years.
