a class of the Eure “out of control”

From the outside, the primary school of Saint-Eloi-de-Fourques, near Bourgtheroulde, in the Eure, seems very calm. In the courtyard of the airy center, the sounds of a normal playground. “Yet they are the same students as usual”, explains the mayor of the village, Denis Szalkowski. From his town hall, located a stone’s throw from the school, he sometimes hears and sees the problems: “In the CP-CE1 class, there are violence, insults, by several children. A student was hit two centimeters from his testicle, he had a huge bruise, I don’t even dare to imagine what it would have happened if he had been hit … A pupil threatened another in the canteen with a knife! Teachers are beaten and insulted, the class is out of control … “

There are problems here every day. “

For him, three students are particularly problematic and a few more are drawn into this spiral very bad behavior. Comments abounded by Natacha Vicomte, mother of a child educated in the school and representative of the parents of the students: “A student threw a compote at a teacher who was at the blackboard, aiming for the head … And there are problems every day here.”

The problem goes back to the Department of Departmental Services for National Education of Eure (DSDEN 27), aware of the conflict. For the institution, a student is a concern, and this could be medical, psychological. If the pupil has a recognized disability, he or she may be helped by an accompanying person for pupils with disabilities (AESH), but not before the next school year.

Plot incident reports?

“Already, it is not a student, it is at least three, wants to correct Denis Szalkowski. And how a child who has been here for two years can escape follow-up as he kicks, throws things, insults … There is a care problem. “

For him, as for Natacha Vicomte, response times are too long. “Are we going to sacrifice the other students because the institution does not have the means to help?” exclaims the mayor. “They are already late because of the Covid, there, the teacher is on sick leave, the replacement did not know how to manage, they are running late”, worries mom.

For the DSDEN, we do it as quickly as possible, the student could meet with doctors as soon as the February vacation starts. The institution repeats it, it is a question of inclusion, impossible to leave students on the side of the road because they are considered “different”. “If we make the choice of inclusion, and that’s fine, we need resources, the mayor still claims. We have to help teachers and children. There, I have the impression that not all cases have come up for one reason or another … ”

The parents of the students and the mayor do not feel that they are making themselves heard. They therefore plan to block the school on March 12 to alert the academic management, with whom relations seem very tense.. “Not sure it helps the student”, replies the DSDEN, “we are doing this to help him”, answers the mayor.
