A car that was 20 years outdoors without its owner knowing what it was, now costs 1.5 million dollars | Engines | Entertainment

Ford Mustangs are always on the list of car collectors, so restaurateurs and vendors are usually in search of this icon to capitalize on it. However, now a unique piece goes on the market.

For 20 years an exclusive prototype of the 1967 Mustang was in the field of Texas, outdoors, without its owner knowing how special it was while it was being damaged.

This version is a Shelby GT500 EXP, also called “Little Red” and was found by the Barrett-Jackson classic car auction house.

“This Shelby prototype was one of the most sought-after vehicles by experts since the 1960s. They believed it had been destroyed. I am excited to announce that we have found the Little Red and intend to meticulously restore it to return this legendary car to its original glory, “said the company, which found the car in 2018, restored it and now estimates its price at 1.5 million dollars.

The Little Red was a prototype that served for Ford and Shelby to launch a year later the Ford Mustang California Special. It was known that after the launch the Little Red had been sent to a warehouse and, perhaps, destroyed, but this did not prevent collectors from looking for it.

The Little Red and the Shelby Coupe Green Hornet are two Ford cars that bore Shelby’s name in the car. Just the restoration of the latter motivated the search for the “little red”. Both are owned by Barrett-Jackson. (I)
