A driverless vehicle was found by the police in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. It would be a simple hit and run, according to the first elements of the investigation.
A vehicle darked on a Parisian terrace this Friday around 7 p.m., in the 11th arrondissement. “A vehicle rushed onto a terrace, overturning tables and chairs, then parked a little further and was found by the police on the spot. According to the first elements, it would be a simple hit and run rather than a deliberate action ”, said a source close to the investigation at Figaro. The driver is currently wanted.

The police headquarters also said on Twitter that a “Vehicle had been found without a driver on Boulevard Richard Lenoir in Paris, in the 11th arrondissement”. An intervention by the Central Laboratory is underway and a security perimeter has been set up. No injuries were to be deplored, only material damage. A demining team was on site in the evening.
The terrace targeted was that of the Soya restaurant, which has two ephemeral terraces, rue de la Pierre Levée. “A car stopped near the terrace and then accelerated, said an employee of the restaurant. It was the start of the service, around 7 p.m. The driver stopped then accelerated and rushed onto the terrace before setting off again towards Boulevard Richard Lenoir. Luckily there was only one client and she rushed inside. She is not injured but is a little traumatized ”. After the car has passed, the employee describes a “War scene”, with some “Chairs and tables overturned, broken”.
“We saw a car accelerate at the beginning of the street and run onto the terrace. There are no casualties. We helped put the patio back in place. We’re all in shock. We saw the car which crashed intentionally ”, adds an employee of Paname Art café, next door to Soya. “We were told to stay inside the restaurant and not to come out. At first the police were calm, then after 20 minutes they seemed worried and put on their vests. Currently we cannot leave the restaurant. We entered the terrace ”, we say in a restaurant rue Oberkampf. The first elements of the investigation are oriented however towards a simple hit and run, even if the motivations of the driver have not been clarified for the time being.
