The Alambique Foundation for Poetry has digitized the collection of poems with blockchain technology ‘The works of death’, from Jorge Dot, which has reached 209 dollars (170 euros) in its first hours of sales, as reported by the institution.

With an issuance of 250 unique ‘tokens’, each of them representing a numbered and signed copy of the collection of poems, the ‘token’ had a starting price of $ 20 last week and 72 ‘tokens’ were sold “in a few hours” until reaching the quoted figure.

The foundation itself considers that It is the first book to be encrypted and assigned to a ‘token‘. “We are not aware of this having been done before. Our interest is to open a new channel for the global dissemination and commercialization of poetry, thus fulfilling our founding objectives ”, they explained.

The edition, of 1,000 copies, has been produced by Elephants, within its collection Trasmoz papers. The first 250 copies have been digitized and assigned to vouchers (‘tokens’ in English). These 250 copies have been acquired by the Fundación Alambique para la Poesía, a non-profit organization, which markets the tokens and custody and distributes the copies assigned to these values.

These first 250 copies are stamped and numbered, and signed by the author. The next 750 copies are traditionally marketed by Olifante Ediciones de Poesía.

«A new era in the publishing and commercialization of books begins, which guarantees the coexistence of the physical book, the digital and tokenized book, and the unique, encrypted record of the work. This registry does not need any trusted third party to guarantee the authenticity of the work, nor the authorship, nor the ownership of the physical book ”, stated the foundation.
