A book of musicians’ favorite recipes has been published

Jumava, in collaboration with musician Ati Zviedri, has published a book “Sounds. The taste. Cities ”- stories of 27 Latvian musicians about their childhood tastes and simple recipes for making them.

Aija Andrejeva, Intars Busulis, Dons, Aigars Grāvers, Aivars Hermanis, Olga Rajecka, Kristaps Rasims, Jānis Šipkēvics, Reinis Sējāns and others – a total of 27 – musicians share their richly illustrated book with their memories and recipes.

The book is not just a recipe for easy meals, they are small fragments of memories – the tastes of childhood, which characterize the musicians themselves and their hometowns – 11 Latvian cities, says the supplier.

“Sounds, Tastes, Cities” is a book that collects stories from different cities and musicians who were born or raised in these cities. Every musician’s story results in a recipe. And here it should be added at once that this is not so much a recipe book as a collection of stories and feelings, because many of the recipes are very simple. It is a special pleasure that a part of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the foundation “Companion”, which takes care of musicians in distress, “said the author of the book, musician Atis Zviedris.

Musician Jānis Stībelis: “Food means one of the opportunities for me to enjoy this life. For me, it is not just a satisfaction of physiological needs, but a philosophy, a pleasure. Through food we can get to know other cultures, environments, mentalities. Cooking is also an interesting, creative and often social process. Food also has associations and memories. There have been different dishes at different stages of my life, but probably the most pronounced memories of taste come from childhood. For me, food is also a way to please my family and friends. ”

Musicians’ favorite recipes were created by chef Lauris Aleksejevs and captured by photographer Aleksejs Nikifronovs.
