Portugal lost to the Netherlands (2-3), in the round of 16 of the European Volleyball Championship. It was the first time that Hugo Silva’s men reached this stage.
The Portuguese team even started better by winning the first set (25-22), but then saw the Netherlands respond in a categorical way (25-22 and 26-24). A large partial quarter of the set of corners (25-20) forced the decision to go to black, with the victory falling to the Netherlands (15-13).
With this result, the Netherlands join Poland and Italy as the countries already qualified for the quarter finals.
