A BOLA – HC Braga will protest against Sporting with TAD (Roller Hockey)

Controversy broke out in the national roller hockey championship. In a statement, the Hóquei Clube de Braga reported that it will protest to the Court of Arbitration for Sport the match against Sporting, on the 2nd round, which the lions won 6-3 at the João Rocha Pavilion.

At issue is the use of João Almeida by the lions. The 26-year-old hockey player was announced by Hóquei Clube de Braga as a reinforcement of the team on 8 July, but the defender was eventually announced, on 2 August, as Sporting’s new player. Allegedly, the change will have been made without the player’s disengagement and the consent of the Minho, who in a statement guarantee to go to the last consequences.

«In view of the news regarding the registration by Sporting Clube de Portugal of the player João Almeida who had subscribed the registration form by Hóquei Clube de Braga, the following clarifications are necessary:

1- In compliance with the regulations, the Hóquei Clube de Braga participated / appealed to the Council of Justice to exercise its rights regarding the registration / suspension of the player João Almeida;

2 – On grounds with which the Braga Hóquei Clube disagrees, the FPP CJ understands to legitimize the registration of the player João Almeida by Sporting Clube de Portugal and does not apply the regulated suspension, referring any suspension to the FPP Disciplinary Board, to the detriment of Braga Hóquei Clube and, above all, roller hockey;

3º- The Braga Hóquei Clube considers, in the defense of its interests, its honor and fundamentally the modality to appeal to the TAD of that decision;

4 – Pending such a possible appeal and the decision of the FPP CD, the use of player João Almeida by Sporting Clube de Portugal against Hóquei Clube de Braga has already motivated and will motivate the protest of the game, with any disastrous implications that may entail for the championship that could and should have been avoided;»
